Set in a lush jungle retreat center perched on the edge of one of the world’s most beautiful lakes, Lake Atitlan, this was my second kirtan camp. Highlights included a candle-lit Durga chant-athon when the village lost electricity one night; a raucus Ramabolo journey leading up to the crackling of New Year’s fireworks; and a sweet though mangy local dog who seemed to sing ‘Hari bol’ as he wailed at the moon outside the kirtan room. Most of the Jai Uttal song sheets (link to songsheets page) I’ve posted here were from songs he led on this retreat.
