playing a kirtan: ganesha sharanam

In this video, Daniel walks us through the steps to take to, bit by bit, learn a new kirtan song from a songsheet. You’ll be shown how to play the song in ‘melody style,’ holding a drone and playing the melody, as well as in ‘chord style,’ playing the three-note chords on the harmonium while singing the melody. Once you’re comfortable with this process, it’ll be easier to learn new songs on your own from the collection of free songsheets.
